Definition

Reassessing the value of a long-term asset and updating the book value to its current market value. In NZ, many companies revalue assets like land or buildings periodically. An upward revaluation increases asset value on the balance sheet and creates a revaluation reserve (equity), but does not create profit in the income statement.
