An investment scenario where the costs of owning a property (interest on loans, rates, maintenance, etc.) exceed the income it produces, resulting in a loss to the investor. Some investors accept a current loss in hopes of future capital gains, and in certain cases losses can be used to offset other income for tax purposes."
