Definition

The formal relationship between an agent and their client (principal). It is governed by agency law, requiring the agent to act in the best interests of the client, and by the terms of their agency agreement. In NZ real estate, once a homeowner signs an agency agreement with a realtor, an agent client relationship is established with fiduciary duties owed to the homeowner.
