Definition

A type of insurance often used in self-insured group health plans. It provides protection by capping the total amount the employer would have to pay for all claims in a period. If the aggregate of claims exceeds a certain amount, the stop-loss insurer covers the excess. (This is more relevant to large employers or insurers rather than individual property investors.)
