Marilyn leads the Staircase finance team and is responsible for the company's compliance and risk governance. Her focus is on keeping everything connected behind the scenes, at every stage of a client's rental property journey.

Most of what her team does happens out of sight. The numbers, the checks and the reporting that sit underneath every client relationship, and making sure the obligations the business carries are met properly rather than just met. Compliance and risk are not the parts of the job discussed at the front of house, but they are the parts that protect clients.

Marilyn's view is that good process is what allows people to relax. When the detail is handled properly and on time, nothing lands unexpectedly and nobody has to chase anything. That is the standard she holds the finance function to, and it is what lets the rest of the team focus on clients rather than on paperwork.
